Last Three Months for Some Energy Credits

October 4, 2010

Federal income tax credits for purchasing qualifying windows, doors, heat  pumps, central air conditioners, water heaters and other qualifying energy property for a primary residence end on December 31, 2010 (unless otherwise renewed by Congress).  Qualifying property installed in a primary residence (and is operational) by that date qualifies for a federal income tax credit of up to $1,500 (30% of up to maximum $5,000 used to purchase qualifying items).

Credits for certain other types of energy property continue through 2016.  Examples include certain solar, wind, and geothermal systems.
